Lay Baby Lay

I feel like so many of my friends are announcing pregnancies lately so I thought I'd share these nursery ideas from a very talented designer over at Lay Baby Lay. I love that she strays from the typical pastel nursery and isn't afraid of bold and dark wall color. (I'm partial ever since I painted Ben's walls a very non conventional dark slate gray color.) I can't decide if my favorite is Hang Ten, the Little Prepster or the Little Admiral.

DIY Valentines Day Onesies

I used some of my leftover blank onesies from my baby shower to create some baby boy valentines day outfits:

It's been awhile since I've used my etsy fabric paint and stencils... it was fun to dust it off!

Can't wait to try them on my little cutie.

Look for Less: Kyle Richards

Yes, I shamelessly watch the Real Housewives of BH; partially for the drama but mostly for the clothes! I love Kyle Richards' style every week. From 70's inspired caftans and tunics, to bright prints and turqouise baubles. Can I please have one of everything in her closet? I rarely buy stuff for me anymore with a little one around. He's way more fun to shop for and actually 'needs' a lot of stuff. However, I couldn't resist snagging this Stella & Dot bracelet. It's very reminiscent of Kyle's Ana Ko bracelet, don't you think?

Mission: Chic Storage

My yard of paradise pool fabric from Schumacher came a few days ago...

 

here are a few pics I snapped of the baby storage pieces I created with it. DIY here.

(I'm doing my best to manage the influx of baby gear fashionably... not realistic, but one can dream.)

 

I plan on whipping up a few throws using the center medallion similar to:

 

to match my Peacock printed beach-villa inspired pillows from last year. 

 PS, I was tickled to get my Feb Coastal living yesterday and look at what is featured this month:

I didn't see this until after I ordered the fabric (who would pay $300 for a pillow when you can buy fabric for $60/yard btw?)

Playroom Inspiration

Currently using some of my 'pins' as inspiration to create a playroom for baby Ben that is a fun and colorful atmosphere that still remains stylish and cohesive. Here are some of my favorite ideas and concepts:

Moroccan Pouf for a soft accent that is also functional as a little seat.

This is a fun DIY project... I ordered a large wooden B on etsy and I'm not sure how I want to paint it.

More toy storage... I found something very similar at Home Goods that is a little more stylish than a laundry basket.

Hopefully I can get a space ready both upstairs and downstairs before my little guy is mobile and ready for loads and loads of toys!

Happy New Year

Happy New Year! I am so excited for a new year with new projects and ideas for my blog! I have taken a 3 month break from the crafting and blogging world to snuggle with our new little addition. It's amazing how fast the past 3 months have gone and how much our little Ben grows and changes every day. Ben was born on October 10th at 10:22 pm weighing 7 lbs 2 oz. He has been such a joy and we just can't get enough of him. At 3 months old he is currently: 

sleeping long stretches throughout the night (6-7 hours) yeah!

starting to roll over 

smiling, gurgling, 'talking' and cooing 

laughing 

expressing interest in favorite toys 

recognizing mom and dad 

'watching' the tv, dog, and objects around the room 

holding up and balancing his head 

making eye contact with familiar faces and strangers 

blowing bubbles 

holding his hands together

Hopefully as he gets older and settles into a more regular nap routine, I will be able to do a few projects here and there. Thanks to pinterest, my list of things I want to do is incredibly long. With a new year, I resolve to try out some of my favorite pins and as a new mommy, I'm sure that some kid projects will make the blog along with fun home updates as well.
