Trina Turk Fabric

Even though summer is still a looonnnngggg way out, I can still dream. I'm totally in love with anything Trina Turk does and her collections are always reminiscent of summer vacation. Her fabrics are so fun & punchy and are always in my favorite colors!

I've already purchased a few pillows in "peacock pool"

...but I just discovered I can buy the fabric from here on out. I think it will be a little more cost effective. Here are some of my favorites from Schumacher:

Santorini Persimmon

Peacock in Pool

Peacock

Paradise Pool

Arches in Bamboo

Apple Trellis

I'm really loving the "Arches" in bamboo and found a great website for purchasing designer fabric. Stay tuned for the DIY

Vintage Holiday Prints

I'm getting better at holiday decorating but I'm still learning the ropes. If I were a real die-hard Christmas decorator I would love to change out my framed prints every December. Here are some really cute images from art.com that would add fun seasonal flare to the walls:

Love the "view it in a room" feature. This room always catches my eye:

Capiz Light

I scored a "coffee" colored capiz lantern at World Market the other day. Instead of putting it in a bedroom, I thought it would add some beachy-Latin-elegance to the master bathroom.

Here are some great images that inspired the project:

(West Elm)

(Kelly Wearstler)

(Lonny)

(Z Gallerie)

I hate the look of hanging cords so I just popped the recessed lighting cover off and drilled it to hang flush with the ceiling for the look of an electrical installation without all the trouble. It turns on and off with the light switch- perfection!

Scanner Art Fun

This is a project flashback from high school photography class. I was recently reminded of scanner art when I was cruising Coastal Living and found a photo of a really stunning piece of artwork that turned out to be an enlarged fabric print. I thought it would be fun to give this project a try!

I scanned a section of a favorite dress at 220% I love these colors... teal, chartreuse, chocolate and aqua blue!

It took a few tries but I got a section I like and printed it on 11" by 17.5" and stuck it in an ikea mat & frame. Voila!

I love this necklace I bookmarked in a magazine a while back but have no clue where to find it...
So I made my own!

Dresser Makeover

I was desperately in need of a dresser makeover- preferably black or white (to go with a recent bedroom makeover) with some fun detail or hardware. Here are some inspiring images that helped get the project started:

(Pottery Barn)

Here's my finished dresser: (see before pic at the bottom)

I rolled on 2 coats of Kelly Moore's Swiss Coffee in eggshell finish and added some patina-looking embellishments under the drawer pulls.

(Before)Total cost: $27 for paint & supplies

DIY Medallion

This morning's DIY was a ceiling medallion for my DIY palm chandelier!

(Abode Love)

(Patricia Gray)

(Habitually Chic)

The ceiling/sheet rock was a little uneven and jagged around the chandelier base where the original ceiling light was installed so it looked unfinished up close.

Soooo... a medallion was the perfect solution. I think they are really fun and add a little finishing touch to a room.

I picked one up from Home Depot for $24...

got out my drill gun...

removed the chandelier...

mounted, painted, and measured to make sure the base fit inside...

painted the screws white, and re-installed the chandelier!

Ta da! It totally covers the holes in the sheet rock and adds some extra glam to the guest room.
